Dear readers,

It has come to Aero Crew News’ attention that passengers have started to complain to TSA about working crew members cutting into the security line for TSA PreCheck®. As of now, we know this has affected RDU and has caused TSA to change their policy and now require crew members to wait in line. Will these same passengers complain when their flight is delayed because the working crew is late to the gate? We are anxious to learn more. If you know of any other airports doing this, please email us at [email protected].

As we know, TSA is retiring the KCM (Known Crew Member) lanes and is planning to launch a new program called, CMAP (Crewmember Access Point). TSA has yet to release any firm details regarding this new screening program, but Aero Crew News has received word through AirTera that the start of CMAP is delayed and KCM will remain active until CMAP is fully operational. For more information visit AirTera.com (https://airtera.com/crewmember-access-point-faq).

Evidently, the new CMAP will provide dedicated security lines for employees only, much as it used to be. The demise of KCM, just proves that we cannot count on being accommodated. It has been reported that too many took advantage of skipping security and brought banned items into the secure areas of airports. Given the high number of random checks that KCM applicants face, I look forward to CMAP—potentially a dedicated line just for crew members.

Until then and always, fly safe!
