Canada Faces a Pilot Shortage as New Pilot Certifications Reach Record Lows.

The number of new commercial pilot licenses issued in Canada has dropped to a recent low of just 300 per year. This is despite an apparent increase in the demand for air travel in Canada. Per an ALPA spokesperson, the certification drop stems from mass pandemic layoffs in the Canadian airline industry prompting students to pursue other, potentially more stable career paths.

  1. I can imagine… I would not recommend the job anymore. After 25 years in the business…. The conditions were going down. I wish the time we spend away from family and friends, moving all over the place -and many more things are making the job not attractive to people anymore
