
McLean, Va.—The pilots of Mesa Airlines, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), acknowledged this week’s announcement regarding a proposed merger between Mesa Airlines and Republic Airways. While details of the agreement are still emerging, Mesa pilots are cautiously optimistic about the potential for increased stability and new opportunities for career growth in the evolving regional airline landscape.
“This merger holds immense promise for our dedicated pilot group of over 600 aviators,” stated Captain Scott Norton, chair of the Mesa Airlines Master Executive Council (MEC). “We are confident that the combined strength of Mesa and Republic will unlock substantial benefits, increase operational efficiencies, and ultimately create more robust career pathways for our pilots.”
The Mesa Airlines MEC is proactively focused on ensuring a seamless and equitable integration process for its pilots. “We are committed to engaging constructively with Republic Airways management and our fellow pilots represented by the Teamsters,” emphasized Captain Norton. “Building upon our established partnership within the United Express network, our goal is to forge a unified pilot group that champions safety, prioritizes job security, and creates clear avenues for professional advancement. We believe that a collaborative approach will be essential to the success of this merger and the well-being of all pilots involved.”
