Southwest Airlines had a very successful in-house Southwest Pilot Recruiting Event. We hosted 400 pilot applicants at our headquarters in Dallas. During the event we were able to provide information about Southwest Airlines, allow them to tour our Network Operations Center, ask direct questions to our Pilot Hiring Team and meet one-on-one with our recruiters to provide feedback and review their profiles.

Alan Kasher, our Vice President of Flight Operations addressed the group and made the formal notification that going forward Southwest Airlines will no longer require 1,000 hours of Turbine Pilot in Command experience to apply.  The 2,500 hours total (or 1,500 hours total turbine) remains the minimum flight experience to apply. Additionally, we opened an application requisition (window) on the morning of the event.  The requisition was available to both pilots who attended the event and those who were not able to attend.  We are currently screening those applicants for upcoming interviews.

Our Team feels the event was valuable for both us and those who were able to attend.  Our intent is to make this a semi-annual event; Spring and Fall.
