CommutAir has been on a growth tear since its inaugural jet flight in 2016. The carrier recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with United Airlines that will triple its fleet size to over 60 aircraft which will double the size of its pilot workforce versus today.

To respond to its increased pilot needs, CommutAir recently increased its pilot sign-on bonus to $22,100, payable to all qualified pilots before their start date, boosting first-year compensation to $74,000.  Also, New hire pilots can expect to exit reserve status and hold a line within a couple of months of Initial Operating Experience (IOE). Qualified First Officers can also expect Captain upgrades almost as soon as they achieve the required qualifications.   CommutAir’s most junior Captain was hired in April 2017.  CommutAir also has United’s first and best Career Path Program (CPP) – the most efficient route to a United Airlines flight deck.

I.e., CommutAir is the recipe for success for airline pilots:

  • Real sign-on bonus (when you sign on!)  And first-year compensation of over $74,000
  • Actual flying time.  Rapid upgrades and minimal reserve time
  • Best United CPP
  • First and finest commuter program

Combine the above with CommutAir’s bases in Newark and Washington-Dulles (think same day commutes!) and the industry’s most collegial and informal culture, and it is no wonder that pilots heading off to United speak fondly about their time at CommutAir.

Thanks to its growth plan, CommutAir also recently announced an expansion of its Washington-Dulles Flight Training Center.  The facility will consolidate all non-simulator crew training and deploy state-of-the-art technology, software, and equipment.  Jeff Harris, CommutAir’s newly-appointed Director of Flight Training, is leading the project. Jeff brings a wealth of experience from Flight Safety International where he managed 17 simulators and worked with multiple airline training programs.  This hub-located training facility will help reduce unnecessary pilot travel, offer aircraft access and training material, and provide pilots and flight attendants with an efficient training footprint.  CommutAir’s simulator facility is in Cincinnati.

CommutAir continues to spread its wings in the United Express system as it adds destinations on behalf of United Express. The delivery of additional aircraft and growth is creating career opportunities in all areas. For more information, visit www.flycommutair.com/careers or visit Facebook for further updates.
