NEW YORK—Today, from 8–9 a.m. outside the NASDAQ MarketSite, Air Transport International (ATI) pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), will conduct an informational picket. After nearly three and a half years of negotiations without meaningful progress, ATI pilots will stand together to demonstrate to management their resolve in achieving a market-based contract that will allow ATI to attract and retain pilots. The picket will be held outside the location where ATI parent company Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) is hosting “Investor Day.”

What:             Air Transport International (ATI) Pilots’ Informational Picket

When:            Wednesday, September 27, 2023

8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

Where:           NASDAQ MarketSite

4 Times Square

New York City, New York

ATI ALPA Master Executive Council chair Capt. Mike Sterling will be available for interviews starting at 8:00 a.m.To RSVP or arrange an interview, contact Courtney Garmhaus at 404-831-4667 or [email protected].

ATI pilots hope to raise awareness among investors of the record pilot attrition at ATI and its impact on future profits. Additionally, the informational picket will uniformly express the ATI pilots’ frustration in management’s failure to recognize the value they bring to the overall success of the airline. ATI pilots stepped up during the cargo surge resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and have continued that exemplary performance every day despite fatiguing schedules, unresponsive management, and an outdated contract.

“No one is more committed to the success of ATI and our customers, especially Amazon, than our pilots,” said Sterling. “We are here today to express our concern regarding ATI management’s refusal to acknowledge the damage being done to our brand, reputation, and ability to support our customers by the mass exodus of experienced pilots due to our outdated contract. We have made no progress in negotiations, which have been ongoing for 3.5 years, and our pilots are losing confidence in management’s willingness to deliver a market-based contract.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest airline pilot union in the world and represents more than 75,000 pilots at 43 U.S. and Canadian airlines. VisitALPA.org or follow us on Twitter @ALPAPilots.
