Cleveland, Ohio — CommuteAir, a leading regional airline, announced it has extended President and CEO Rick Hoefling’s tenure through 2028 in an amended contract approved by its Board of Directors.
“Rick has steered CommuteAir through a pandemic and we have emerged as a larger company with a stronger balance sheet,” said John A. Sullivan, CommuteAir’s co-founder and Executive Chairman. “I’m pleased that we will retain Rick, so he can build on that success in the coming years.”
“I am excited to continue on as a part of the CommuteAir family,” said Hoefling. “In 2024, in addition to growing our core business as a United Express operator, we will begin offering charter operations on our E170 aircraft, and adding heavy maintenance capability to our Lincoln, Nebraska hangar, insourcing the work on our fleet, and provide services for other airlines. I want to thank our board members for their support.”
Hoefling joined CommuteAir in January 2019 as President and CEO. Under Hoefling’s leadership, the company’s ERJ145 operations have grown by more than 50%. Prior to joining CommuteAir, Hoefling retired from a 34-year career at United Airlines, where he most recently served as Vice President – Newark, overseeing the carrier’s more than 450 daily departures at Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia Airports.
