Pilot leaders from the Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA) and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) issued the following statement regarding an agreement in principle reached between the two unions about a potential merger:
“Recently, ACPA and ALPA signed a merger agreement in principle (AIP). The agreement has been approved by the ACPA Master Elected Council and the ALPA Canada Board. It will now be considered and voted on by the Air Canada pilots, ALPA’s Executive Council and Executive Board.
“This milestone brings both associations one step closer to achieving the pilots’ joint goal of advancing the piloting profession and aviation safety in Canada and the United States. By working in unity, we are confident we will be stronger together.”
ACPA represents over 4,500 members who fly passengers and cargo around the world on Air Canada and Air Canada rouge.
