FedEx Express pilots held informational pickets today in Indianapolis, Ind., and Washington, D.C., to express continued frustration over their lack of a new employment contract. The pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), turned out in both locations, with signs that read, “Industry-leading pilots have earned an industry-leading contract.”

“The holidays are FedEx’s busiest and most profitable time of year, and our pilots play a pivotal role in the ability for FedEx to serve our customers,” said Capt. Chris Norman, chair of the FedEx ALPA Master Executive Council. “We are here today to send a clear message to FedEx management, customers, and investors that our patience with FedEx has been exhausted and now is the time for FedEx to deliver the industry-leading contract our pilots have earned.”

ALPA and FedEx management are currently engaged in expedited mediation with the National Mediation Board. Negotiations on the pilot group’s contract began in May 2021.

“Our goal has always been to get a contract that FedEx pilots are proud to support,” explained Capt. Pat May, chair of the FedEx ALPA Negotiating Committee. “We will pursue every possible means available to us under the Railway Labor Act to achieve our stated goals. We remain steadfast in our commitment to achieve a ratifiable agreement that represents our contributions.”
