American Airlines is calling on AAdvantage members to donate miles through its Miles for Heroes program in recognition of National Purple Heart Day, observed annually on Aug. 7.
According to American Airlines, National Purple Heart Day honors U.S. service members who were wounded or killed in combat. The Miles for Heroes program channels donated miles toward organizations that serve veterans, active-duty military members, and their families.
The airline said AAdvantage members can participate by donating miles through the program as a way to recognize the sacrifices of Purple Heart recipients.
