Aviation Capital Group has placed a firm order for 75 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, the Newport Beach, California-based lessor announced October 16. The deal brings ACG’s total historical orders for the type to 190 aircraft and marks the largest single order in the company’s nearly 40-year history.

ACG CEO and President Thomas Baker described the order as a reflection of sustained airline demand for new-technology narrowbodies, saying it represents “confidence in the long-term future of air travel.”

Airbus EVP Sales Benoit de Saint-Exupery noted the two companies’ relationship stretches back to 2007, when ACG placed its first direct order with the manufacturer. The new order, he said, means ACG will be able to offer A320neo Family aircraft to airline customers “well into the next decade.”

For crew, the scale of this deal matters in a practical sense. ACG supplies aircraft to airlines worldwide on operating leases, meaning these 75 frames will eventually show up on line schedules at carriers across multiple regions. The A320neo Family — which includes the A320neo and A321neo — carries at least a 20% fuel burn and CO₂ reduction compared to previous-generation narrowbodies. Airbus reports the type has accumulated more than 20,400 orders globally, making it the best-selling single-aisle platform in aviation history.
