We’re proud to celebrate a major milestone: 1,000 Aviate participants have successfully transitioned to United!

Why it matters: Reaching a United flight deck is an important career achievement, and each transition represents years of preparation, training and dedication that made it possible.

The big picture: As United’s industry-leading pilot career development program, Aviate provides aspiring and current pilots a secure path to the United flight deck. The 1,000 transitions reflect the collective commitment behind every participant’s journey, including more than 700 active United pilots who volunteer as Aviate Coaches, our network and program supporters who help participants progress toward United.

”Reaching 1,000 Aviate transitions is an incredible milestone and a testament to how far the program has come. More importantly, it reflects the impact Aviate is having on United’s future as we continue developing the next generation of pilots,” said Flight Operations Planning and Development VP Captain Rob Thomas.

Aviate by the numbers:

  • 1,000 participants have successfully transitioned to United.
  • More than 700 active United pilots volunteer as Aviate Coaches.
  • Thousands of aspiring and current pilots have connected with the Aviate team this year through campus visits, orientations and industry conferences.
  • More than 1,500 meeting hours have been logged between participants and their Coaches since August.

What’s next: 1,000 is an incredible milestone, but it’s only part of the Aviate story. As we celebrate the pilots who have reached United, we’re equally excited about those continuing their journey toward our flight deck.
